Working with Bejoy has been a breeze of a learning journey. He’s an exceptional director, effortlessly providing valuable insights on set. What’s remarkable about Bejoy is his down-to-earth nature, making it easy to approach him for guidance. Despite his professionalism, he keeps the atmosphere light and positive, ensuring everyone feels comfortable. Bejoy’s knack for maintaining a balance between professionalism and care for his team has made working with him on Dange for the third time a delightful experience. Our professional relationship has flourished over time, and it’s been effortless to seek his advice whenever needed.
2. Can you describe your typical process for preparing for a role? How do you approach understanding and embodying a character?
Music guides me from script to set, setting the tone for my character effortlessly. YouTube research immerses me in speech patterns and mannerisms, maintaining focus throughout shooting. Pre-shoot meditation grounds me, making the process seamless.
3. We heard you are in talks for a feature film project with an Indian/LA director. What excites you the most about this potential opportunity, and what can you tease about the project without revealing too much?
Venturing into international work has always been a top aspiration for me. The prospect of exploring beyond familiar borders is truly thrilling, and I eagerly await the journey ahead. I’m driven by curiosity to delve into the industry beyond my home turf, gaining insights into its workings and dynamics. This opportunity promises to be a catalyst for personal and professional growth, allowing me to connect with diverse individuals and explore new places both on and off-set. As for the project itself, I can’t reveal too much, but I can say it will strike a chord with Indians navigating between different environments or lifestyles.
4. Looking ahead, what are your aspirations and goals as an actress? Are there any specific types of roles or genres you’re eager to explore in the future?
I’m driven to broaden my horizons in both domestic and international projects, regardless of language. I’m eager to learn and evolve as an actor, aiming to undertake diverse roles. While such opportunities have been scarce, I remain optimistic. I’m particularly drawn to portraying complex characters, especially those with disturbed psychopathic traits, as I’m fascinated by the intricacies of the human mind. Additionally, I’m keen to tackle challenging roles with enthusiasm, especially in action movies and series, where my passion lies.
5. Are there any particular fashion trends or styles that you find yourself gravitating towards? How do you stay updated with the latest fashion trends?
For me, casual style embodies the ultimate sexy attitude. It effortlessly brings out one’s best personality without seeming forced. When I look for fashion inspiration, Pinterest is my top choice. Lately, I’ve been drawn to Florence Pugh’s fashion sense. Her style oozes effortless charm while retaining allure. I’m captivated by her trends and eagerly follow her fashion choices.
6. As an actor, how do you handle rejection and navigate the ups and downs of the industry?
Every day is a struggle, but I’ve found strength in it. Rejection can be tough, but my love for acting keeps me going. I believe in my potential and won’t give up easily. Persistence is key in this industry.
7. In your opinion, how has the landscape of acting and filmmaking evolved over the years, especially with the rise of streaming platforms and digital content?
With the emergence of streaming platforms and digital content, numerous opportunities have indeed unfolded, which is undoubtedly positive. However, it’s not as straightforward as it may seem. The landscape has become increasingly competitive, particularly with the surge of social media. Nowadays, actors are often judged more by their number of followers rather than their actual skills, which are not necessarily correlated. While this shift has opened doors for many actors to explore character roles, resulting in an exciting time for the industry, it also means that certain faces may become more prevalent and repetitive, making it more challenging for new faces than ever before.
