Get ready to delve into the world of Ruchi Malviya, where determination, dedication, and an unwavering passion for storytelling converge to create an unforgettable cinematic experience.

1. You’ve collaborated with Bejoy Nambiar on multiple projects. How has your relationship with him evolved, and what was it like working with him again on Dange?

Working with Bejoy has been a breeze of a learning journey. He’s an exceptional director, effortlessly providing valuable insights on set. What’s remarkable about Bejoy is his down-to-earth nature, making it easy to approach him for guidance. Despite his professionalism, he keeps the atmosphere light and positive, ensuring everyone feels comfortable. Bejoy’s knack for maintaining a balance between professionalism and care for his team has made working with him on Dange for the third time a delightful experience. Our professional relationship has flourished over time, and it’s been effortless to seek his advice whenever needed.

2. Can you describe your typical process for preparing for a role? How do you approach understanding and embodying a character?

Music guides me from script to set, setting the tone for my character effortlessly. YouTube research immerses me in speech patterns and mannerisms, maintaining focus throughout shooting. Pre-shoot meditation grounds me, making the process seamless.

3. We heard you are in talks for a feature film project with an Indian/LA director. What excites you the most about this potential opportunity, and what can you tease about the project without revealing too much?

Venturing into international work has always been a top aspiration for me. The prospect of exploring beyond familiar borders is truly thrilling, and I eagerly await the journey ahead. I’m driven by curiosity to delve into the industry beyond my home turf, gaining insights into its workings and dynamics. This opportunity promises to be a catalyst for personal and professional growth, allowing me to connect with diverse individuals and explore new places both on and off-set. As for the project itself, I can’t reveal too much, but I can say it will strike a chord with Indians navigating between different environments or lifestyles.

4. Looking ahead, what are your aspirations and goals as an actress? Are there any specific types of roles or genres you’re eager to explore in the future?

I’m driven to broaden my horizons in both domestic and international projects, regardless of language. I’m eager to learn and evolve as an actor, aiming to undertake diverse roles. While such opportunities have been scarce, I remain optimistic. I’m particularly drawn to portraying complex characters, especially those with disturbed psychopathic traits, as I’m fascinated by the intricacies of the human mind. Additionally, I’m keen to tackle challenging roles with enthusiasm, especially in action movies and series, where my passion lies.

5. Are there any particular fashion trends or styles that you find yourself gravitating towards? How do you stay updated with the latest fashion trends?

For me, casual style embodies the ultimate sexy attitude. It effortlessly brings out one’s best personality without seeming forced. When I look for fashion inspiration, Pinterest is my top choice. Lately, I’ve been drawn to Florence Pugh’s fashion sense. Her style oozes effortless charm while retaining allure. I’m captivated by her trends and eagerly follow her fashion choices.

6. As an actor, how do you handle rejection and navigate the ups and downs of the industry?

Every day is a struggle, but I’ve found strength in it. Rejection can be tough, but my love for acting keeps me going. I believe in my potential and won’t give up easily. Persistence is key in this industry.

7. In your opinion, how has the landscape of acting and filmmaking evolved over the years, especially with the rise of streaming platforms and digital content?

With the emergence of streaming platforms and digital content, numerous opportunities have indeed unfolded, which is undoubtedly positive. However, it’s not as straightforward as it may seem. The landscape has become increasingly competitive, particularly with the surge of social media. Nowadays, actors are often judged more by their number of followers rather than their actual skills, which are not necessarily correlated. While this shift has opened doors for many actors to explore character roles, resulting in an exciting time for the industry, it also means that certain faces may become more prevalent and repetitive, making it more challenging for new faces than ever before.

Rapid Fire –
Describe yourself in 3 words:
Determined, driven, and tirelessly dedicated.

Are you a tattoo person?
Someday, nothing resonates at the moment

If you could be from any other era what would it be
An era devoid of social media.

If you had one superpower what would it be?
My superpower would be to assist underprivileged people and children, offering them an endless supply of support and care unconditionally.

Your biggest or weirdest fear
My biggest fear is lizards, just absolutely no. Weirdest fear is Trypophobia

Your dream destination
Alaska is on my bucket list

Your favourite past time
Watching Movies

Actor Manav Dua, who was last seen in Zing Tv’s Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya as a lead, is now currently playing the role of Jay Kashyap in Balaji Telefilms show ‘Yeh Dil Maange More’ on DD National.

Manav’s acting inspiration?

I believe my passion to do is what inspires me, yes that isn’t what one would expect to hear but this is my truth. As long as you have the passion to do something you follow through and allow the journey to be your inspiration. Acting itself drives me because everyday I get to portray a new shade of myself , portray something that I’ve never felt before or something that I would feel someday. So yeah , I believe if you are passionate towards Acting then you don’t need any Inspiration to pursue it. Passion, purpose and persistence , my P’s for inspiration.

How did Yeh Dil Maange More happen?

Well it’s a story in itself, during the 4th week of Actor’s Truth ( a class I went to), I got a call from Balaji Telefilms saying I have been shortlisted for the character ” Jay ” and they want me to take one more self test before locking me in. I shared it with the casting department and I didn’t get a response for 2 weeks. Finally On 23rd Feb , I got a call saying I was locked in for ” Jay “. I was thrilled because after being in the dark and unsure, I got a call with someone telling me ” you’re locked “. Though I wanted to break the news to family, I chose not to till I was signed up and on the set. Shooting for YDMM started from 18 June and on the same day I told everyone off my big news! They were all excited after hearing this because the next day was my birthday and it felt like I gifted myself a career in the TV industry by starting my journey with Balaji Telefilms. Honestly and truthfully YDMM journey of Manav Dua i:e; JAY has been an indelible Journey.

Tell us about your bond with your co actors.

As an actor you are taught this technique of taking energy from your co-actors but to follow this it’s essential to have supportive , willing and humble co-actors and these three words that I have mentioned above are less for my YDMM team , all of us were so connected to each other that around them it never felt less than a family. The first time I met them was off shoot at Balaji’s office. At that time I remember Akshay Mhatre had come across very reserved and to himself, I was not sure how would I approach him, given he’s a senior actor so I thought that would be a challenge. Even with Miss Twinkle, she was quiet , a person of few words and reserved but on the second day of shooting I realized I was wrong. This was one fun and happy very chilled bunch of people and I got to see the crazy side in all of them the day they surprised me with a birthday celebration on set and this was only day 2 of shooting. This was remarkable. We all used to have our meals together. Mrs.Archana used to bring _Parathas_ for me because I love to eat _Parathas_ and Miss Twinkle [ Jyoti Didi ] used to bring steamed veggies for me. Mrs. Shefali always tried to help me work on my inhibitions. I feel lucky to have such co-actors in the start of my journey.

How does it feel to be associated with Balaji Telefilms Production?

I feel I am born under a lucky star and I am blessed to start my career in acting with Balaji Productions and I hope we’ll come up with more creative and entertaining projects in future. I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Priyanka Salunke Ma’am for acknowledging my craft and offering me the role of Jay. As and when days got going I had a chance to meet and interact with many members of the Production team. Our EP Mr.Sanjay Giri , Mr.Atul Joshi and one person apart from Priyanka ma’am whom I’d like to mention is Dhruv UmraniaSir (our creative director) who supported me with ways that arent big nor small. To this list it’s fair I even call out the efforts the spots took to ensure we actors were well taken care of. This is one amazing point of Balaji Productions, they take very good care of their actors and team.

What made you take up acting as a profession?

Observing something new about myself everyday. Learning how to react in situations and how to handle my emotions , ultimately knowing everything about myself is what I wanted in my life. Acting is living under imaginary circumstances and when someone pursues this profession he / she gets clarity about life and more so about themselves. To know myself , to be free from inhibitions and explore the depths of my emotions myself , I choose to become an actor.

What kind of roles are you looking for and keen at doing? Also, if offered a negative role, would you accept it?

I am keen to explore work in web series and films because I believe it will help me grow me as a versatile actor in the industry. It doesn’t make any difference portraying a negative lead character in future because every character has it’s own charm and shade that I would like to portray. I surely wouldn’t want to be looked at or labeled as a “Villain” but as an actor who can portray every emotion of the character.

Are you disappointed with the fact that it will go off-air soon?

Yeah , I wish I could live as Jay for a little longer time but everything happens for a reason, YDMM is the first step to many sets and shoots.

A beauty lover at heart, Aashka Goradia has always seen makeup as a form of empowerment. Through
her brand, Renee Cosmetics, she wanted to create products that celebrate women’s natural beauty and
cater to their many cosmetic needs in a single packaging. She sits in a candid chat to share more about
her brand and the inspiration behind it.

What was your mission at the start of your company?
My motive was to make sure that every woman in India is able to celebrate the transformation that makeup brings about. I wanted them to enjoy and feel ecstatic & powerful with what it can do to bring about confidence and change and also have the colours that she can resonate with.

What made you choose to start a company in this Industry?
I spent about 20 years facing the camera, being in front of it, acting and playing several different characters. And in order to do so, it required makeup that each character needed, in order to give it the final finish. Eventually, I fell in love with it and then I realised that it allowed me to do so much with my personality and that is truly powerful. This is what made me start RENÉE Cosmetics.

How did you come up with the name of your company?
I feel makeup transforms us and we do feel like a new person. Renee is my Mother-in- law’s name, meaning Renatus and Reborn. The name perfectly blended with what this whole art is about and what it does to people. So, it was a perfect combination and I thank my Mother-in-law for letting me use her name. I think she is really proud of what we have done with the brand.

How would you describe your company’s workplace culture?
I would say it is tremendous. We all are young and highly driven people who have come together with a lot of passion. I think nobody in my team is older than 28. It does not mean that we don’t have people with experience. We do. However, I think having young people on board today is our best investment. Young employees can bring a fresh perspective and a different way of thinking to your business. By giving them opportunities you can do wonders.

Does your business give back to your community?
Sure, it does in different ways. First, like I said, the power of transformation and what it does emotionally
to people. I feel it shouldn’t have to be necessarily materialistic and it is a great way to say that we are
giving back in terms of confidence and change and the novelty is in its emotion.

What is the USP of your brand?
The USP of our brand is the prototyped mechanism of pop-push-play. Now, the brand has decided to bring all the necessary key features in makeup into a concise packaging which has turned out to be a huge hit.

How would you describe your company’s success so far?
When it comes to Company Success, I think, in less than a year, RENÉE has seen a sky rocket jump. During the pandemic, Fab Five was one of the most trending beauty products in India. So, I think success is not only in terms of the company’s annual turnover which is also tremendous, but also in terms of how we have truly revolutionized the makeup industry.

What is your favourite thing about your brand?
My favourite thing about my brand is the people. Infact, everything about my brand. The people working behind it and all those special people who become our consumers. I think these are the two reasons why everything is so driven.

Chart your journey so far.
Our journey so far has been truly incredible. Once we started thebrand, we saw a huge slow down due to the pandemic. But, right after that, the brand also got its way to rise up and become one of the most prominent brands in the country today. So I think every brand goes through their ups and downs. We had our share of downs and now we are on our way up.

Your inspiration
My Inspiration is everyday women. Women who truly deserve and desire to seize the opportunity for a transformation to bring about change, play with colours and be powerful in their own way.

Message to the loyal customers of the brand.
This is not it, RENÉE will continue to innovate. It will continue to bring the best makeup in the Industry. We are so thankful for your love and support and your loyalty. We hope to have the same love in the journey forward.

He started mixing songs and playing them for us when not many of us knew DJing actually exists as a career in the music industry. From creating an acknowledgement to receiving awards for his contribution in music, DJ Akbar Sami has come a long way. iCraze finds out what entails this journey of one of India’s most loved DJs who has got generations grooving to his tunes.

1. What inspired you to choose music as your career?
I think it was the other way round. Music chose me and I consider myself lucky that this happened, I grew up listening to my dad’s Sufism and elder brother’s western music. It influenced me a lot and soon I got deeply involved in music related subjects. And then the rest like everyone knows is history.

2. When you started off, DJing wasn’t known to be an established profession. What struggles did you face in terms of acknowledgement and finding your own path?
Yes, nobody really knew about Djing that time when I had started playing music. It was indeed a very difficult time for me. As there was no source of getting, collecting music, no internet so no downloads or the slightest of idea about what was going on around the world of music internationally as I had not yet introduced Indian Film Music into the clubs or in my events back then, whenever people asked what do you do for a living? I had to think about how to answer that question for them to understand what I do. Since I knew they would raise the eyebrows if I say that I’m a disc jockey. It probably will take a few more years.

3. You have recently received DJ of the Decade Award. Do you think such recognitions are necessary for an artist?
It is more than necessary, in fact, it is very important for more and more firms like INCA to recognise DJs in and around India as DJs do promote Indian music world over in their own unique way. And they also have been giving a new sound to the older recordings of our film music, producing them and performing it too. Representing the Indian music world over is what a few DJs including myself have been doing for many years without being recognised in India by our music industry. It’s a sad truth. Finally, INCA did a survey within India and decided to finally have an award for the DJ category and I was selected for the DJ Of The Decade Award. I’m super thankful to Mr Aman Anand and the entire crew of INCA.

4. Indie pop has not seen a rise which was anticipated from it. Why does the music industry always have a back seat to films?
We have some fantastic Indie pop groups and soloist available and superbly talented artists. Sadly, the music companies have started keeping and signing indipopers of their own selectors of the artist who comes with money bags or connections, obviously, they get the first preference and so loads of good talent gets wasted and ignored. Unless one shoe licks the biggies of the music industry they don’t get anywhere, and nor the Indie pop. I’ve been on the panel of judges for the Mirchi Music Awards last eight years and have heard some great artists, sadly the power of Bollywood is so very strong in India that the Indie pop gets overshadowed.

5. Are you up with the idea of so many remakes in film music and singles?
Yes, I’m and I always was in for the idea of remakes and singles, because the idea of having singles and remakes has always been around the world over except India for the longest time. Unfortunately, we have always overdone styles and remixes here. Soon after my first remix albums called ‘Jalwa’ and ‘Jaadoo’ the entire music industry jumped on the wagon of remixes. Moreso today we can’t release anything with a remix on the film album. And this I had mentioned 20 years ago in many of my interviews and tv debates back then. We are remaking too many and too fast. I think soon we will be running out of our untouchable melodies, but one thing I’m glad is that our newer generations are getting to know our songs which they would never have heard otherwise.

6. You have played across the globe, a destination you love going back to?
Very hard to pick up one destination. I think, London, Dubai and all over the USA.

7. How has the taste of Indian club-going audience evolved?
The taste, for sure has drastically improved. It’s nice to know that loads of club owners have been going overseas to learn how to run this business and are doing very well. The audience now has also learned to accept international music which used to be when I had started Djing, as there was no film music played at any of the clubs.

8. Your favourite genres to mix with?
House music all the way. It has always been my first preference as that’s what DJing is all about. And House music is the mother of all forms of Western dance music.

9. Your personal favourite music.
It’s different when I’m working but, my favourite music has always been Funk, Blues, Sufi, of the back in the day’s stuff. As the musician and writers, today have a totally different mindset. So it was all great music and lyrics up till the 90s. We’ve lost it after that.

10. Musicians you admire and would love to collaborate with.
I would love to collaborate with Quincy Jones, Kalyanji Anandji, Mohammad Rafisaab (biggest fan), Hans Raj Hans, Zakir Hussain, late RD Burman. I wish they were among us.

Zeba Khan got a chance to speak to her about what it takes to be a top-notch performer on stage.

What made you choose anchoring as a career?
As cliched as it sounds it was pure and unadulterated passion. As a child, I would take newspapers and read it as though it was my teleprompter, which is why when I have host on stage with a teleprompter people are amused how natural I make it look. Hardwork pays indeed.I would work on my voice texture and mannerisms to make it sound smooth yet efficient. I always knew I will choose the mic and the camera to be my best friends in my career.

You have compered shows oversees as well as in India, what basic difference do you find in the audience?
Oh yes that’s where the globetrotting bit comes. I find Indian production teams extremely creative by the way. One of the basic differences I see is the way the manpower functions. In India it is hands-on and you will have the assistance immediately. However, you cannot expect the same abroad. What they get right is the punctuality. They respect time and if a show is supposed to start at 6.30 in the evening, it will start at 6.30 for sure, even if some of the prominent guests are missing.

Do anchors rehearse before the final take on stage?
There are shows where a proper dry run takes place with the teleprompter and script and sometimes a full-blown rehearsal happens especially where two hosts are on stage or when a government function is taking place due to protocol adherence.During the product launch the sequence has to be right throughout the show.

Who is your personal favourite host?
In the live events space I truly admire Gaurav Kapur not just because of his personality on stage but his knowledge and personality off stage. I had a hosted few shows with him and each time I go back learning a nuance from him.
On television it has to be Shereen Bhan, the Managing Editor of CNBC TV 18.I have been watching her for the last 16 years and her work and style was also one of the reasons I decided to become an Anchor.

How do you keep yourself groomed and fit?
I love to indulge in different workouts and being a trained dancer, I have been blessed with a very elegant stance. This helps me fit into any kind of outfit with absolute grace.I love my weight training,Pilates and functional training with my personal trainer.I am a foodie so it’s important that I get the right dose of exercise to balance my love for food.

Kavea R Chavali

What according to you are the requisites for being an engaging host?
Firstly one must know that you are on the stage to be a sutradhar and not a Star.So let the show be about the show and the people in it and not about You, just because the spotlight falls on you.

Secondly read well. Know the industry or the organisation that is hiring you. Read quotes, stories, news because knowledge is always respected.

Thirdly do not and I repeat do not put on an accent.Be real .Work on your diction but do not change your accent. If it’s fake people will know and it frankly is such a turn off.

Finally know the format of the show. Does it require you to be a formal person as in a government function or a high energy Anchor in corporate shows and annual evenings or be an engaging one on a celebrity interview format.Know it well and ask the right questions to your client.Once you know the format you can dress right for it and adopt the right style for the show.

You dabble into a number of professions and skills, from being a stage presenter, to modelling and also acting, which one is your favourite?
For a true entertainer or a performer there will never be a favourite. As an anchor, I have utilised my talents in singing and acting on stage. Being one of the very few emcees to open the shows in a theatrical style. This happens only in international shows but I have done it for some of the big Indian shows too. Also the love for camera and audience is the main reason whyI love to excel as a stage presenter, actor and anchor too.

How would you like to be known as ten years down the line?
To the world, as a very successful Speaker and an entrepreneur. To myself, as the one who continues to do what I love and love what I do.

Kavea R Chavali

Since you are a live performer, what gives you the confidence to manage bloopers, if any?
Aaah good question…many a times we are not prepared for any bloopers, but when it happens all the focus comes on the Anchor/emcee. I have realised that it’s always good to own it and apologise than try and cover it up.However, most of the times I have apologised after relating that blooper to something humorous so that the attention on that mistake vanishes. This one time the award presentation went off and I humorously related it to my next category which was Beat technology Award. The other time the console/production team was delaying in playing a video I summoned for so I sang the ‘FRIENDS’ theme song with the line – It’s like you’re always stuck in second gear….and went on …while the audience laughed and applauded the console got time to plug in their switches right. What has to be done has to be done.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?
I was once told by a very famous actor that if enthusiasm and energy could be summed up in a book then I would be the title. Also, a common compliment that I keep getting is on my voice. I am always told that I have the best voice and diction in the industry, that feels nice.I have worked hard on training it so it shows.

Here’s an insight into her world through a conversation she had with Nadia Malik.

When did you begin with acting?

I began when I was 9-years-old. It all started with roaming around for auditions and for that one click to happen. Gradually, I realized this is where I belong to.

How has your journey been so far in this
industry?

A learning process full of ups and downs. I think that’s how it’s supposed to be. I have been offered good roles.

Are you happy with what you have achieved so
far?

There’s gratitude.
Grateful to the love I have been getting from my well-wishers.I hope the love
keeps coming.

What has been one of the biggest challenges
that you have faced in your career so far?

The most challenging role was the one I did in ‘Rishton Ka Chakravyuh’. I want my journey to be the same, a learning process. I want to look forward to every day at my work and focus on the craft even more. The profession has helped me become mature. As long as I am enjoying what I’m doing, I am glad.

The proudest moment of your career till date?
When I got my first
show ‘SapneSuhaneLadakpanKe’.

Everyone has painfully regretted deeds in
life. What are yours?

Every experience
teaches you, it has to be a mixture of all shades. Black and white
andeverything in between. I don’tregret, what’s gone is gone.

What is your priority in life?

For now, its balancing
my professional and personal life.

What has changed in your personality compared
to when you were a kid?

I think I have learned
maturity, have gained more confidence. In my mind, I feel, I’m the double of my
age.One thing that’s intact common is innocence.

What drives you to be successful?

To achieve something
drives me to work hard every day.

The first thing you do in the morning when you
get up.

Freshen up, eat
something and head to the gym.

A life lesson learned.

It’s okay to accept
things.

An app you are addicted to.
Instagram

Surprising things you collect.
Stationery

The ‘Zee Talkies Maharashtrachi Favourite Nayika trophy 2017’ winning Indian film actress, Amruta Khanvilkar is one of the leading Marathi actress who has also worked in Hindi Cinema (Bollywood), TV serials and now even in web-series (‘Damaged’).

Among her many notable performances, ‘Natrang’ and ‘Katya KaljatGhusli’ are right up there among the best. Amruta’s character Munira in MeghnaGulzar’s ‘Raazi’ was recently appreciated by both critics and audiences. Her nuanced performance was a result of her meticulous preparation for the role; she learnt Urdu and the mannerism of the 1970’s Pakistani woman.

The NachBaliye season 7 winner has also been nominated in many of the Hindi Cinema Awards like for her role in movie ‘Phoonk’ as ‘exciting new face (2009)’.

After giving the audiences memorable characters, Amruta now gears up for her next release, the vigilante thriller action movie starring John Abraham and Aisha Sharma ‘Satyamev Jayate’ where she’s paired opposite ManojBajpayee. The Milan Milap Zaveri directorial hits the screens on August 15.

Let’s dig deep into Amruta Khanvilkar’s life as she gets into a candid chat with Roshni Sharma.

Standing on this phase of success, who would you like to credit completely?

Oh, a lot of people plus all the situations that I have gone through personally and professionally. I don’t want to take the names but there were people who have also said that my career was over because I was getting married. But mostly, I would like to thank my mom who is my strength, my belief and my faith.

What made you decide acting as your career?

I believe some things choose you. And the same thing happened, this career was not something I planned, I just got into it. Participated in a reality show and then there was no looking back. I did TV anchoring, dance shows, films, both in Hindi and Marathi. I have learnt my craft on the job.

What is Bollywood according to you?

Full of dreams and opportunities, freedom to do what you love, it teaches you a lot about life, teaches you to be humble and sky is the limit here.

If you had to choose one: Marathi or Hindi Cinema.

You can’t choose one, because one is like coming home and the other is the rest of the world, you need both in life.

Describe your experience of winning NachBaliye Season 7 with your husband, adding a phrase to it.

Experience of winning was great, it was something I had never expected, only wished for, but Himanshu was extremely confident of our win right from day one. It opened a lot of doors for both of us. It’s the only reality show where you get to dance with your real partner and that you cannot fake.

Your role model

Beyoncé, Rihanna, Priyanka Chopra and Madhuri Dixit

What is a perfect date according to you?

A day full of adventures and then diner, plus a walk on the beach.

Or right now it’s watching the northern lights.

If calling off your diet plans for a day, what will be the Desi Indian menu you’ll ask for?

Butter Chicken, Kebabs, Dum Biryani and any Chocolate Dessert.

Your favorite Marathi song

Me raat takli. All songs from Katyaar Kaal jatghusali and Sairatzhalaji.

What should the audience and your fans expect out of your role in the upcoming movie ‘SatyamevJayate’?

The role of Sarita is very much like me. She’s a fun loving, caring, doting wife and has a great chemistry with her husband. She’s more like me, the way I’m in real life.

The two applications that you use the most in your phone:

Instagram and Telegram

To end with, describe your life experiences till date synchronizing it with a song of your own movie?

Aeeeeezindagi gale lagale, humnebhitereharekghumko gale se lagayahain, hainna.

And in Marathi – Khel Mandala

Some fashion tips to your fans and iCraze readers.

Fashion is something that will keep changing. Don’t go mad behind it. Have a sense of your own, a style of your own because that will make you different.

Yes she made it!
Neha Adhvik Mahajan

Neha Adhvik Mahajan is a Celebrity Makeup Artist, Stylist, and Bridal Makeover Specialist who runs NAM Makeovers. She has opened a multi-designer outlet called ‘Kasbah’ in Ludhiana in collaboration with her husband Adhvik. She has styled many celebrities and loves to experiment with looks.

Neha sits in a candid conversation with Nadia Malik.

Tell us something about yourself and your career so far, what made you look up to careers like becoming a Makeup Artist and a stylist?
I was born and brought up in Jalandhar (Punjab) and I am a qualified fashion designer with an additional degree of M.B.A. in Design management. While in Punjab, I noticed that females used to frequently move out for shopping in these metro cities. After marriage when I moved to Mumbai, I along with my husband formed an events company and organized grand weddings and lifestyle exhibitions in Punjab
with participating designers coming from all over the country. After a couple of years’ experience, we opened our first multi-designer outlet called " Kasbah" in Ludhiana. My husband is an actor so my
friends/social circle in Mumbai is majorly of all actors. Since I was already into designing and supplying to my store, on a personal note I also loved to dress up and want everyone around me should be beautifully dressed. So, my husband Adhvik and my industry friends suggested me to seriously take up styling as a profession.

Taking up makeup was another new thing, being a designer I have always had a good hand in drawings, sketches etc. so maybe that is the reason I could do good makeup. So like most other things in my life Adhvik motivated me to take makeup also as a profession and he has this strong belief that I have the caliber to become the best makeup artist of India. Once I decided to be a makeup artist, I took professional training and took the help of some tutorials. See now I am here growing each day.

What are your favorite things about your job and least favorite?
I get to meet so many new people and interact with them on a personal level to solve their makeup and styling issues. Also, I love to travel and stay at the most exotic and luxurious locations around the globe so that’s a bonus that comes with this profession.

Least favorite is packing bags. Yes, seriously it may sound weird but since there is a lot of travel involved, so I literally live out of a suitcase for major period and I hate packing and unpacking so often.
Secondly, when I am out of Mumbai for work, I miss Adhvik the most.

What has been the most memorable moment of your career, so far?
When Adhvik proudly gave a statement to media that his wish has finally come true and one day Neha shall be successful enough so that people will address me as Neha’s husband rather than addressing her only as an actor’s wife. He has dreamt for me more than I could ever and this everyone who knows me will agree to.

What challenges do you have as a makeup artist and as a stylist?
Every new assignment comes with new challenges because all my clients (celebrity or non-celebrity)have different tastes and demands for every occasion, but that's the best part. Additionally, everyone has a
different skin type and face structure which I study properly before using the products and techniques of makeup. Same way while styling I have to keep in mind the body type, personality, and the occasion; accordingly
dress them as aptly as possible. But sometimes it is a task to convince clients especially actors as they have their creative inputs, so yes sometimes we do face creative differences but it all contributes to make the complete look better. At the end of the day when my effort gets appreciated in the way of my clients getting compliments, nothing beats that feeling, it’s all worth it.

What goals do you wish to achieve in the future?
In the near future, I wish to style Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, and Sonam Kapoor. My ultimate aim is to be the best bridal makeup artist in India. I want to make each and every bride feel like a princess on her most
an important day of life.

What trends do you love right now?
Tassels and a lot of bling are in these days, it gives an interesting twist to traditional outfits. You will see all renowned designers are using this with their creations and I am in love with it.

Which trends do you wish to disappear?
I just hate fur on clothes. So many designers are going over the top with fur on their creations. My advice please let it be on animals, we do not need it.

If you could choose anyone to give a makeover, who would it be and why?
I would love to give Richa Chadda a complete bridal makeover. I believe that she will look like a million bucks in that bridal avatar contrary to her image of Bholi Punjaban. She is one of those few actresses who are naturally blessed with beautiful Indian looks and a deadly combination of innocence and intensity.

Let’s say you could travel back in time to one fashion era, where would you end up? What did you
like about that period?
70’s was the best era in makeup. The winged eyeliner trend, basically bold eyes and nude lips was quite a hit. In clothing short blouses with skirts, bell-bottomed pants, polka dots, bell sleeves, short dresses and so
much more was there to experiment. Also, headgears and chokers were in high demand. You will notice that all these trends are back in demand these days, as they say, fashion comes back in a full circle.

What advice would you give to an upcoming fashion stylist?
As I am new really old into this business and I am learning new tricks every day. But I would just want to advise not to look out for shortcuts, the more you will grind on the field the more you will grow. Keep yourself updated with trends and styles worldwide, it has become a lot easier as all resources are available online. Give importance to practical internships and training, no matter how qualified you are for the job. Most of all believe in you, be patient with the client’s demands, and always be a learner. Success will be yours sooner or later.

Describe a time early in your career where you felt you could say, ‘I made it’.
I think it’s too early in my career to think or say so. But there are so many moments in my daily work routine when I am able to make my clients happy and they earn compliments for their looks, makeup, or styling. I just make a prayer to God and think ‘Yes’ I am reaching close to my goals and dreams.
